I can't even begin to describe how amazing the trip was. The desperation conference was a huge blessing. So many students and leaders were impacted. Students were going to the altar and giving things over to God. Students found their identity in Christ. Students were delivered from past hurts, emotional baggage, and fear.
As for myself i learned how much God loves me. now doesn't that sound a bit elementary? but it's true. i've realized how awesome a marriage works as a metaphor for our relationship with God. The husband is pursuing the wife, trying to woo her, draw her, get to know her. he loves being with her, talking to her. it is his greatest delight. he is in love with his wife. he looks out for her. protects her. spends time with her. and the wife strives for the same thing. God is pursuing us. and we are pursuing Him. it's a mutual committed relationship. and i've realized how song of songs is an allegory of our relationship with God, although it can be a crazy book at times! Song of Songs 8:6-7 says "Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealous is fierce as the grave. It's flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the LORD. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it."
