EPIC conference 2009 was a blast!
God did a lot of work in my life and in the life of the students!! it was awesome.
the Brandon Grissom band did a great job leading worship and the speaker Grant Baldwin was great at connecting to basically any age.
Here are the main lessons learned from the conference:
1. Leave your baggage behind.
We all have baggage. It can be from past sins, hurts, pains, relationships, shame, and regret. When we carry around it can be an overbearing part of our life. Grant encouraged us to lay it down. We don't have to carry around shame and regret for things in the past. Jesus forgives us! It's the center of the gospel. We all need to be forgiven. But we got to forgive ourselves too. Forgive yourself for your past and for mistakes in 2009. God does new things!
2. God doesn't make junk.
God created everyone uniquely special.
Psalm 139: 13-14
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
3. Turn compassion into action.
Don't just feel bad for problems in the world, make a difference.
We can't do everything, but we can all do something. I believe that's a ronald reagan quote.
Find something your passionate about it. And do it. Definitely something I need to be seeking out more.
4. Routine vs. Relationship
It is so easy to get into a routine with your relationship with God. prayer and church become meaningless. maybe you're just going through the motions. bust out of that and really follow God in a passionate relationship!!
5. Go... Leave your past behind, be free, change the world.
Enough said.
